Author: Diane Kelly
Genre: Romantic Mystery

This is my first post on my brand new blog :)   I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, but for the last 10 years I've kept track of my books in a journal, so it only seemed natural to move it on-line.

I read a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, but generally gravitate towards light and breezy mysteries, psychological thrillers, and fantasy.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my reviews!

The Book

IRS Special Agent Tara Holloway assists in the investigation of a very nasty "coyote" who's bringing illegal immigrants into the country, only to leave many of them to die in the desert. As if that wasn't enough, she's also trying to figure out who's filing false tax reports. And while all this is going on she has a weird health scare, a run in with some angry insects, a jealous fiance to contend with, and an attempted murder!

My Thoughts

It was completely on the spur of the moment that I picked up this book. I've been reading some heavy stuff lately and thought this would be fun and light. It was!

It turns out, though, that this book is the last in a series of Tara Holloway novels (with the exception of a novella).

I love series ~ it's so much fun to get to know the characters and follow their lives. So I'm really wishing now that I'd stumbled across the first book and not the last :)

The story was fast-paced and definitely entertaining, with lots of humour. I especially love that Tara is a strong, independent, bad-ass gal!

My only complaint (and it's minor) is that her fiance, Nick, is the jealous type. He got his nose out of joint big-time just because Tara didn't mention an encounter with an ex-boyfriend. real life, guys like that raise big red flags for me. I really wanted to tell him to rein in the testosterone and grow up ... but like I said, it wasn't a biggie.

Happy Reading!
